
Anthony David Gonzalez was born on the 27th of February, 1976 in Torrance, California. He grew up in Southern California and was a student at Huntington Beach High School where Gonzalez was a star player on both basketball and football teams. Gonzalez excelled at these sports at University of California, Berkeley. He helped lead the football team into the 1996 Aloha Bowl, where he tied a school bowl record with nine receptions. In the following months, Gonzalez was the team's basketball coach to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA basketball tournament. After graduation from high school in 1997, he was selected for the NFL Draft. Gonzalez was chosen at number 13 overall by the Kansas City Chiefs. Gonzalez was a player for the Chiefs from 1997 to 2008. The Chiefs dealt Gonzalez to the Atlanta Falcons. Starting in Gonzalez's second year in the NFL and never catching less than 59 of them in a season.
